50+ XL trucks at my local dealer … anyone else seeing this?

Hey, I noticed something weird this weekend when I passed by my local dealership. They have over 50 white XL trucks just sitting there, three full rows. The strange part? They only have 6 listed on their website. Anyone else noticing this kind of thing?

Could they be saving those trucks for fleet sales maybe?

By the way, does anyone else still buy white trucks except for businesses? I haven’t seen many new white trucks lately.

People in Texas sure do, probably folks in New Mexico and Arizona too. White paint reflects heat better, keeps the car cooler during the summer.

Yeah, it really does help keep it cooler.

On top of that, white paint tends to last longer before the clear coat starts peeling. The heat causes that peeling, so white paint helps.

I live in Phoenix, and honestly, window tint makes more of a difference than the paint color. I went from a silver Flex to a black Civic, and didn’t notice much change, and I park outside. I’d still consider a black Maverick if the cool colors weren’t available. I’d only get white if the other choices were those flat primer colors.

The difference is about 15 degrees, which is a lot of heat inside the car.

Yeah, color matters a lot. I used to work in auto insulation for a decade, and we tested this. Tint helps, but the paint color makes a big difference too.

In Utah, white trucks are super popular. Maybe it’s because they still look decent even when dirty.

That’s a good point. I wonder if white houses are also more common in those hot states. I live in the Midwest now, and it’s mostly brown, beige, and gray houses.

Wish I’d known this sooner! I got the Alto Blue Maverick.

Here in Colorado, I love white cars.

Same here in North Carolina.

I’m in Texas, and I got a white Lariat.

White is still one of the most common colors in Texas. Though, you do see it mostly on fleet vehicles like pool service trucks or utility trucks.

I went with white for mine too.

It’s funny, a lot of companies here went with Cactus Gray, black, or that orange/yellow shade for their Mavericks. Some were originally white but got repainted. I also see a lot of red and black ones.

I tried ordering two white Lariat hybrids, but they never got made. Ended up with a white GMC Sierra turbo 4 instead.

I had to pick between white and black. Went with black because I didn’t want to look like a contractor.
