Ftr, my entire radio/Bluetooth/CarPlay system is glitchy. I blame the truck haha.

Could be Apple too. I use a Pixel phone in my truck, and it connects and starts playing music in about 15 seconds. My iPhone takes longer to connect and often disconnects. Same truck, same USB-C cable. Make sure your phone is unlocked before starting the truck. Also, use a new OEM cable or a good brand like ANKER.
I’ve had my Maverick for almost a year, and I just started having this issue last month. I’m not sure if this will work for you, but here’s what helped me: there was some debris in the charging port on my phone. It didn’t stop it from charging, but it was enough to cause a loose connection. After cleaning it out, I haven’t had any issues with Apple CarPlay since.
I have an XL, and I think the software is different in the Lariats, but I have this glitch too. My audio randomly cuts out for a second or two.
I know you said it’s the same cable, but it really sounds like a cable issue to me. My CarPlay was glitchy until I got a better cable. I also bought a wireless CarPlay adapter. There are many out there, but I bought one from BestBuy (Aluratek) and it’s worked great with no issues.
Make sure you’re not connected to Bluetooth in the truck at the same time.
I have a 24 XLT, and my truck is in for the third repair for this issue. The first repair replaced the USB port, but it didn’t help. The second repair couldn’t reproduce the issue, so they sent me away. They’re replacing the USB port again, and this time, the wire that connects it to the console. I’m not convinced it will fix the issue, but I’m giving it a try. I’ve noticed other computer issues when CarPlay glitches, like a different door chime and the fan strength lights not showing up. It’s frustrating, but I’m pushing forward. Some tips I’ve found that might help are: disable Bluetooth in the truck, allow accessories to work while the phone is locked, clean out the phone’s charging port, use an Apple cord, and hold the radio power button and skip forward button at the same time to reset the screen. I’ve heard there’s an update coming in Q1 that’s supposed to fix this, but I’m not sure if it will work since not all trucks have this problem.
The dealer update helped mine.
