I just got my 2023 Maverick Lariat Tremor a few weeks ago, and I absolutely love it!
But I’ve noticed a lot of people complaining about the quality—saying it feels cheap, or that they’d never pay so much for one, etc. For those who actually own a Maverick, what are your thoughts? Do you have any complaints?
I have an EB, 4K, XLT. Sure, it’s not a luxury truck, and some details feel cheap, but for the price, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better-performing vehicle. I’m at 32,000 miles now with no problems and averaging 29.7 MPG. It does well in snow and ice up here in the Northeast.
@Jasper
This is the key, I think. Keep your expectations in line with what you’re spending. Even fully loaded, it’s a relatively affordable truck. Plus, people are way more likely to share negative experiences than positive ones. Enjoy your Maverick!
I’m happy with my nearly optionless XL. It’s a cheap, efficient truck that does exactly what I bought it for.
Is it perfect? Not really. You’ll notice the cost-cutting, especially in things like the control stalks, but for the price, it feels right. If you want luxury, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
@Ozzie
That’s great to hear! I personally think the luxury package is amazing, but it’s cool that even the XL delivers exactly what you wanted. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@Ozzie
I’m also considering the XL. I don’t need fancy features—just a small truck to carry things and save on gas. How long did it take for your order to arrive?

I got lucky. My dealer gave me priority code 10, so I ordered when the bank opened in September and got it in January.
Yes, the plastics are cheap, and I’ve noticed scratches here and there. I use 303 protection spray to help keep them looking nicer. Overall, though, it ticks all my boxes: affordable, functional, and good MPG.
I’ve had my XLT with Co-Pilot360 for a while now, and I love it. The interior plastics are cheap, sure, but the gas mileage and utility make up for it. It’s also super fun to drive.
For $26K, it’s amazing. Sure, it feels a bit cheap, but it’s got Android Auto, a bed, and great gas mileage. I do sometimes wish there was a slightly nicer option with the same mileage, though.
I’ve had my Tremor Lariat for two weeks and love it! I considered a Tacoma but couldn’t justify spending over $50K for less MPG. This truck does everything I need and looks great doing it.
I love the Maverick, but the build quality has been the worst I’ve seen. Three repairs in the first 3,000 miles (engine misfire, transmission issues, etc.).
