Buy 2024 XL hybrid at MSRP or wait until 2025 announcement?

I am looking to buy a basic XL hybrid at MSRP without any dealer add-ons. I think I’ve finally found a dealership that understands what I want at least they shouldn’t be surprised if I refuse again when they try to sell me another XL with mandatory add-ons.

However, I’m wondering if I should wait for the 2025 Maverick announcements. While I probably wouldn’t order a 2025, I figure some people who ordered 2024s might switch to the 2025 instead, potentially increasing the availability of XLs. But even then, I doubt I would get a deal better than MSRP, so maybe it makes sense to buy one now if I can get it at MSRP.

To clarify, I’m not looking to place an order for a 2024. The only 2024 XLs I am considering are those already on dealer lots. If I still have not gotten a Maverick by the time the 2025 models are announced and I like what I see, I would consider placing an order then.

Buyers of XL hybrid Mavericks, like me, tend to be budget-conscious consumers. We’ve sold our 10-15-year-old beaters and intend to keep our Mavericks until they are no longer running. I believe the MY25 refresh will lead to a surge of more affordable Lariat and XLT trucks, but not XLs. I also anticipate an improvement in the used vehicle market in August.

Interesting. I appreciate your advice, I absolutely fit the description of buyer. I am still operating a 2005 Corolla without even power windows. It would be my first-ever new automobile.

We parted ways with a used 2008 Chevy Aveo. We also bought the Mav as our first new automobile. After nine months of driving it, no regrets.

Take a chance if it is the one you desire. You’ll want the '26 model if you wait until next year.

The 26 will be similar to the 25th. Since that is the year of the refresh, the 25s will see the most changes.

Just wanted to suggest adding the trailer hitch and Co-Pilot 360 to the hybrid XL. You don’t need more than that, but those features are really nice to have.

If I were in your shoes, I’d go ahead and order the 2024 at MSRP. By the time it’s built, news about the 2025 model should be out, and you can decide then. You can always back out of the 2024 purchase, and the dealership likely won’t have any trouble selling a hybrid if you change your mind.

If you can wait, wait as the 25s will be the refresh year.
