Considering a Ford Maverick as a First Truck/Daily Driver – Long-term Owner Experiences?

I’ve been looking at the Ford Maverick as my first truck and daily driver. The pricing and fuel economy seem perfect for me, but I know it’s a newer model, and I’m aware of some recalls that have been reported.

I’ve watched a lot of reviews, and most people seem to love it. That said, I’d like to hear directly from long-term owners.

What do you like about it? What do you dislike? Have you had any significant issues or regrets about buying it? Is it a truck you’d recommend?

I have a ‘23 Maverick and don’t find it loud at all. Compared to my previous Jeep Wrangler, it’s practically silent. My mom, who drives a ‘23 Kia Sportage, even said my Mav is quieter than hers. Sound perception might depend on what you’re used to driving.

The stock stereo isn’t great, especially if you’re an audiophile. I’m upgrading mine with a sub to improve the sound. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic truck for its price point.

I’ve been driving a Scion xB and Kia Soul, so as long as I can hear podcasts clearly, I’m good. Thanks for the input!

I’ve been driving my ‘22 Hybrid XLT for two years. It’s great for hauling kayaks, bikes, and light loads like soil. Recalls are annoying but haven’t affected me personally. My only concern is long-term durability, but I’d buy it again.

I’m looking for something to last 7–10 years. I’m considering extending the warranty for peace of mind. I’ll mostly use it for hauling a mower, project supplies, and maybe a jet ski in the future.

My experience with a ‘22 EcoBoost AWD FX4 hasn’t been great. I’ve had both front CV axles replaced at 16k miles, and it’s been in the shop for loose transmission pan bolts. While it’s fun to drive, these issues are frustrating.

I’ve got a ‘22 XLT with 4K towing and FX4 packages. Love the truck, but the audio system is lacking. Front suspension and steering feel a bit loose at times. Despite a few gripes, I’d definitely buy it again for the utility and value it offers.

I’ve got a ‘23 XLT EcoBoost AWD FX4 with 11k miles. It’s been great for commuting and light hauling. Road noise isn’t a huge issue for me, and I love the size and fuel efficiency. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

I’ve driven my ‘22 XLT Hybrid for over 60k miles and love it. Recalls are a pain, but the value and utility outweigh the negatives. If you like it on paper, you’ll love it in real life. Long-term reliability is still an unknown, though.

I’ve got a ‘22 XLT EcoBoost. It’s a fantastic truck for the price. Downsides are cheap interior materials and some minor issues with the stereo interface. Otherwise, it’s reliable and capable for everyday use.
