Considering getting a Maverick for business… what should I get?

I might be getting a Maverick for work purposes. I won’t drive it much since it’ll mostly be used out of state for one big account that I fly to weekly in Philadelphia, PA.

Do you think there’s a big difference between AWD and FWD? And what about the Ecoboost vs Hybrid? Does the hybrid offer much better range?

Is there anything I should consider ordering to make the truck better? I’m planning on getting a hard tonneau cover.

Since it’s a work vehicle, I’m not too concerned with trim levels since I won’t be driving it that much. I’m also not going the rental route because I’ll need the truck to store my equipment when I fly in.

It’s a business vehicle that’s not going to be used much? I’d go cheap unless there are tax incentives involved.

That’s what I was thinking, but with how much I’m charging this client, I need something that looks nice. I can’t show up in a beat-up vehicle, you know?

@Winter
If you think a Maverick will impress a client, you’re probably mistaken. It’s just a work truck, not a luxury vehicle.

@Winter
If you go for the base trim, it’s going to look very basic. But if no one will see the inside, it might be fine.

Got it, thanks for the heads up!

For something you’ll barely use, go for the Ecoboost. The Hybrid doesn’t like to sit around.

This is the most important advice here. Take it seriously.

Agreed. My Hybrid sits around a lot, and I keep getting notifications telling me I need to drive it longer to charge the battery.

Hybrids are better for stop-and-go city driving, but highway mileage is pretty much the same. The range is about the same too, you’ll get around 400 miles on a tank, since the hybrid has a smaller tank than the Ecoboost. If you’ll mostly be using it for long highway drives, just go with whatever is cheaper. I’d personally stick with a base Ecoboost XL if I were you.

@Whit
Why Ecoboost? I’m thinking of getting a Hybrid for business, but it’ll be driven every day, so I’m not sure if the Ecoboost is better because it sits more or if it’s a better vehicle overall?

The Hybrid costs more, and it sounds like you won’t save enough on gas to make up for that extra cost. The platforms are both good though, it’s just the price difference.

I’d go with the Hybrid. Heated seats are great in cold weather, once you’ve had them, it’s hard to go back. My 2022 Hybrid gets high 30’s mpg on mostly highway driving (sometimes low 40’s mpg), which is better than the EPA estimate of 33mpg. Even though the Hybrid’s fuel tank is smaller than the Ecoboost’s, I still get over 500 miles on a tank. I’ve never had the battery drain issue that some others have mentioned. The Hybrid’s fuel tank is pressurized, which could help the gas last longer.

If you expect snowy conditions, you can get AWD with either the EcoBoost or Hybrid for the 2025 model year. I have a Hybrid FWD, and during winter I swap out the tires for special snow tires. I’ve easily handled 6” of snow with that setup.
