Hey everyone, I’m thinking about jumping back into a Maverick! I drove an XL Hybrid in Eruption Green recently and liked it way more than I expected. The screen setup without physical HVAC controls bugged me a bit, but honestly, I don’t touch those controls much anyway. I just set it to 72 in winter and roll the windows down the rest of the year.
After some back and forth with the dealer, I got them to go below MSRP before taxes and tags. MSRP is $27,990, but I’m looking at final numbers now. My credit union’s rates beat Ford’s, so I’ll go through them for financing. Oh, and part of the discount is from my Farm Bureau code.
What do you think? Deal or no deal? Appreciate the advice!
Knocking a grand off is solid. I’d take it if you’re happy with the Hybrid.

Yeah, it’s tempting. Thanks for the input, Cal!

That $795 processing fee hurts, plus the mandatory Pro Care package. What’s the MSRP on the window sticker?

The Pro Care was originally $1,995… I said no way. MSRP on the sticker is $27,990. I’m also checking on that processing fee now.

@Wilder
Good call. Dealers love sneaking in those extras.

What’s the deal with your trade-in? Did they offer anything?

They offered $20k, but Carmax offered $22k. Dealers never match Carmax in my experience.

Does your state let you adjust sales tax for the trade-in value? That could change the numbers.

@Thane
They do, but even with that, I’d still be about $500 ahead selling to Carmax.

FYI, Carmax has started adding a $600 processing fee in my state. Just a heads up in case that affects your numbers.

Good to know, thanks! I’ll factor that in.

I say go for it. Sounds like you’ve thought it all through, and the Hybrid seems to fit what you want.

Thanks, Liz. The Hybrid surprised me in a good way. I’m leaning toward pulling the trigger.
