I just don’t get what people were expecting. The Maverick is the most affordable truck out there and one of the cheapest new vehicles in the U.S. I knew there would be cost-cutting, so I wasn’t shocked when I got mine.
It’s crazy that some people expect this to be a full-size truck for $25K, competing with an F-150 or Tundra. If you do heavy towing or construction work, this isn’t the truck for you. If you need a massage seat or third-row seating, then look at something that costs $60K+. The Maverick is great for small jobs, city parking, and home projects.
@Drew
I get that, it’s a city-friendly truck… But if it struggles outside city limits, why buy it?

Because I needed something that could handle light truck tasks, but I didn’t want a full-size truck.

I live in a rural area, and my driveway is a kilometer of gravel. The Maverick does just fine out here.

I talked to someone who drives a Maverick mostly on highways, and he said it’s comfortable and quiet.
@Arden
Compared to what? It’s decent for the price, but it’s definitely not as quiet or smooth as more expensive vehicles.

Obviously, it’s not going to be as comfortable as a high-end car. But it’s comparable to other compact trucks and economy cars like Civics and Corollas.

I ended up getting an F-150 because I was tired of waiting. Realistically, the Maverick has the same number of seats, similar payload, way better gas mileage, and it’s easier to park. Unless you need to tow, it’s not a huge step down.

What if I told you there are paved roads outside of cities?
My biggest issue is the infotainment. CarPlay disconnects all the time, and my first call after starting the truck never goes through.
Other than that, it does what I need. It’s cheap, gets me around, and I use it for work.
@Adley
Same here. One of my apps is stuck on the screen even though it works fine on my phone.
Also, I wish I could permanently disable auto start/stop and have it default to eco mode.

Hold the power and fast forward buttons at the same time until it resets. I’ve had to do this three times in the last eight months.

There’s an AutoStop Eliminator for about $100 that plugs into the OBD port to disable it.
@Adley
I’ve had multiple vehicles with CarPlay, and they all have the same issue.

That’s why I always use a wired connection. Wireless CarPlay is just too inconsistent.

Yeah, our Bolt EV has wireless CarPlay, and it’s a mess. Plugging in solves the issue.
@Adley
Bad or cheap USB cords can cause issues with CarPlay and Android Auto. Try an OEM cable.

I’ll try that. Never had an issue in my previous car, but you never know.
My only complaint is the paint. I got rock chips all over after just a few months. Other than that, the Maverick is worth every penny. I have an ‘05 Civic, and my Maverick gets almost the same gas mileage, but with way more power. Love the Lariat’s sound system and interior.
