Does AWD really make a difference in snow? My Mav is amazing!

Took my AWD Maverick out in the snow and ice, and I’m seriously impressed! It handles so well, feels super safe, and I couldn’t be happier.

Is that the Raptor-style grill? Looks sharp! Did you buy it online and install it yourself?

Your truck looks awesome! I’d love to get mine looking like that. What mods have you done? Did you add a lift? What tires are you running? And how’s your roof-top tent setup? I’ve been checking out racks, but I still want to see out the back with the tent on.

What kind of tires do you have on it? Did it affect your gas mileage?

I’m running Wildpeaks, and I lost about 1.5 MPG. Not a big deal though.

Great choice! I’ve used Wildpeaks on a few of my vehicles and they’ve always performed well.

Can you share a link to your rack and tonneau cover? Anything you really like or don’t like about the setup? I’ve been thinking about getting a retractable tonneau and rack combo but I’m unsure.

If you’re considering a retractable tonneau, I’ve got the RetraxONE XR and I love it! It does take up some bed space, but I haven’t had any issues because of it. The lock feature and rails are super handy. The only downside is occasional water leaks during heavy rain, but that’s mostly because I’ve been avoiding drilling drain holes in the bed for the tubes.

For the rack, I installed the MELIPRON on the rails. It’s great if you plan to leave the crossbars in one position, but adjusting them is a hassle and requires tools. With the rack, I noticed more cabin noise and a slight whistle when driving with the windows down. Also, expect a small MPG drop—about 1-2.

@Corwin
Thanks, this is super helpful! When you installed your cover, did you add any foam strips for a better seal? I don’t want to drill holes either and was thinking of just using foam or tape. Do you think putting tape on the mounting rails instead of the truck would work?

@Ben
I don’t think I used any foam strips. The cover’s canister takes in some water, but there are drain holes at both ends. The instructions suggest drilling into the bed, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Someday I’ll probably cave because I don’t want wet luggage on a trip. After 1.5 years, it’s been great—no issues during car washes either.

Are those Billie Bars on your setup?

Looks super clean! :+1:

Wow, the headlights look great! No frost or anything. That’s awesome.
