How can I keep my hybrid warm while driving

Electric engines do produce some heat. Thermodynamics say there’s always some energy loss, no matter what. I’m not sure how much heat it generates, but it’s there.

The electric motors are so much more efficient at converting energy into motion that the heat they generate is barely noticeable though.

@Amar
It still exists.

Any heat from the electric motors isn’t used for cabin heating.

@Maxwell
I didn’t say it was for cabin heating.

That was my first and only post here. I didn’t say anything before that.

What else would you be heating? The engine?

Heat is always lost, but not all of it goes into heating coolant in a normal combustion engine.

Yeah, gas mileage really drops in winter for this truck. It is what it is.

Do all hybrid models have radiator flaps?

I have the XL model. I don’t think it does.

Edit: Actually, it does have them.

If it’s a hybrid, it does have them.

Look again.

To get better MPGs, set the climate control to speed 1 and keep it around 70. Instead of cranking the heat or AC when you’re uncomfortable, it’ll take a bit longer to warm up or cool down, but it’s more efficient than blowing it full blast. By the way, don’t worry about your other question, I’ve had a strange issue with mine on the highway once, and no one could figure it out.

Sport mode.

That’s right, keeping it in sport mode warms the engine faster. I’ll try that next time. Thanks!
