Electric engines do produce some heat. Thermodynamics say there’s always some energy loss, no matter what. I’m not sure how much heat it generates, but it’s there.
The electric motors are so much more efficient at converting energy into motion that the heat they generate is barely noticeable though.

Any heat from the electric motors isn’t used for cabin heating.
To get better MPGs, set the climate control to speed 1 and keep it around 70. Instead of cranking the heat or AC when you’re uncomfortable, it’ll take a bit longer to warm up or cool down, but it’s more efficient than blowing it full blast. By the way, don’t worry about your other question, I’ve had a strange issue with mine on the highway once, and no one could figure it out.
