As the title says, I would like to know the honest opinion of the owners in this sub.
I currently live in Puerto Rico, where this truck goes for over 6-10k over MSRP usually (so do all other cars, tbh), so before I commit to such a big expense, I would love to hear more about your experience.
Is it reliable? How does it drive? Have you found any issues with your unit?
They’re just about to reveal the 2025 model with an extremely likely AWD hybrid on August 1st. You might want to wait and either get a 2024 at a lower price or order a 2025.

I’d lean toward getting the 24 cheaper. The facelift is hideous.

Thanks! I have seen a lot of posts with check engine lights, Is this an issue you have experienced yourself?
@Val
I’ve had my 24 for only 5200 miles but I’ve had no issues what so ever. I think Hybrids overall have been a little less reliable but in general the Maverick is very reliable. Your always going to see people posting negative things on the internet at a higher rate IMO, but that’s just because they’re angry.
@Val
Had mine since March and 0 issues to report. Love my truck. Wish the infotainment on the XLT was better and the speakers were nicer but those are my only complaints. Also make it so the truck remembers which drive mode it was in after shut off.
@Soren
I bought my wife the 23 sonata hybrid limited. So I got a 24 SC limited cuz I like the technology, like blind spot camera, and an interior LED ambient light. love the looks. Love the back seats have an air vent so my back seat passengers can feel the AC and heat.The limited comes with a rolling cover to go over bed. Tonneau cover I think it’s called, and loved that I could lock the cover, well, not so much as locking it. Really just turning a switch that disables the latch that lets you slide it open.Liked the in bed trunk.Love the BOSE stereo. Love the vented seats. I’ll love them more when it gets cold and I have to turn on seat warmer. It’s more fun to drive, in my opinion. And if you put in sport mode and floor it, it’s fun. But I only did that once, and it was on the 1st SC that I test drove. I’m easy as I can be with a truck that I own.
@Val
Also important to note that people will post about problems more often than they post everything is fine. There’s enough reliable ones out there that the check engine lights are few overall. Fords usually good about honoring warrantys too.

@Laurel
Gotcha, I’m not interested in anything older than a 2020. Sooooo from what I understand, don’t get the 2020-2022 with the 1.5L cuz they’re all 8 speed transmission’s. So the 2020-2022 with the 2.5 hybrids would be okay? What about the 2020-2022 with the 2L I4? How’s the 2023? Or too early to tell?

Keep in mind, the hybrid still has a lot of issues. Adding AWD is likely to add even more unknown variables. Personally I wouldn’t be buying the first gen AWD hybrid. If you want AWD I’d still pick the Ecoboost for now.
@Micah
While true it’s hard to determine what is more reliable without knowing failure rate. This subreddit would make you think if you buy a maverick it’ll be in the shop once a month. Escapes have electrical issues, F150s have transmission and VCT issues, explorers have electrical issues. They all have issues. It’s just what issues are you willing to put up with. Plus the mavericks are super easy to work on.
