Imagine it’s 2005… you just graduated high school and saved up $5,000. What used car do you get?

Merkur. I had one back in 2002. Great for three seasons but scary when it snowed.

It only needs new tires? Seems like an easy decision.

Yeah, and you can find decent tires for $500 if you shop smart.

First question everyone asks about a car: will this help me get a date?

I had a Sierra here in the UK. During winter, I’d put a concrete slab in the trunk to help with traction.

@Rowan
My uncle used a piece of steel for weight in his Merc during winter. Worked like a charm.

I think the Merkur looks fun, but isn’t it tough to find parts for them?

Toyota truck, no question. Years later, you’ll be saying, ‘Wish I’d never sold it.’

Yup, that’s the right call.

I’d still go for the pickup, even if it already had 200k miles.

200k miles? That’s just getting warmed up on an old Toyota.

@Ev
The engine lasts forever, but the frame? Not so much.

Especially if it’s sitting at only 19k miles.

Buy the Toyota and then sweet-talk Uncle Rick into a loan to buy the Bronco too.

The Toyota was my first thought too. If you treat it well, it’ll last forever.

Had a 2012 Tacoma for five years. Still miss that truck every day.

Still have my 2011 Tacoma. I’ll probably die before it does.

@Wyatt
Hold onto it! Trucks like that are worth keeping.

Wish I hadn’t rolled mine back in the day…
