Is the Ford Maverick a good buy or not?

What do you all think about the Maverick? Is it worth getting or just a hype truck?

I just put a deposit on an XLT. I think it’s worth it, but I guess I’ll only really know after I’ve driven it for a while.

Good pick! Did you get it with the sport package and tow package? I’m not a big fan of the crew cab, though.

@Reagan
I think all Mavericks are crew cabs, no matter the trim. I actually went with the base model but added the inverter. I’m not planning to tow anything.

I’m 6’6" and usually end up in tiny cars for the gas mileage. This feels like a win—better mileage and more comfort, plus the bonus of moving stuff myself when I need to.

Thanks, can’t wait to hit the road with it!

I like it, but I want to see one in person to check how small it really is. If it’s got Ranger-level room, I’d seriously consider it.

Looks like it’ll be about as roomy as the Ranger from what I’ve seen.

It’s about 10 inches longer than a Fusion sedan and 10 inches shorter than a current Ranger.

I watched a comparison video, and the Maverick actually has more space inside overall than the Ranger.

I love this thing! A truck platform getting 40 MPG is something I’ve been waiting for.

It’s not actually a truck platform—it’s based on the Escape, which is based on the Focus.

@Sky
And the Focus was based on the Pinto, which was based on a moped, which was based on a bike. I’d still drive the hell out of an Escape with a truck bed that can tow 4K and gets 40 MPG!

The Focus has zero connection to the Pinto. But yeah, the Maverick, Escape, and Focus are all on Ford’s C2 platform.

You’re missing the point—they’re talking about the design lineage. And no, the Focus isn’t based on the Pinto.

I like this truck, but it should’ve been named the Courier. Maverick should’ve been a sporty RWD Focus ST-type sedan with a manual option. Ford, why didn’t you ask me first?

Ford is great at making amazing engines and then hiding them in limited runs or niche vehicles. It’s frustrating.

@Dale
Totally. They’ve had some awesome engines over the years that barely got used. And yeah, I miss all the cool options like the Focus RS and Fusion Sport.

I’ve got a Mustang GT and a Ranger, but I still can’t get over them dropping the Fusion. Such a missed opportunity.

I’m curious to see how reliable it’ll be and what the real-world MPG numbers look like.
