Is the Ford Maverick still in demand or has it cooled off?

Hey everyone. I’ve got a 2022 Ford Maverick XL with AWD and around 15,000 miles. I’ve checked Carvana and similar sites just to get a sense of its value, and honestly, I’d prefer a Tacoma over the Maverick.

For those of you who know the market or are in sales, how is the Maverick selling these days, especially used ones? Are they still moving quickly, or has demand slowed down?

Hybrids still sell at MSRP or a little over, maybe $1,000–$2,000. AWD versions, though, are usually at sticker price or even discounted.

They’re still easy to sell, but that doesn’t necessarily reflect trade-in value.

Got it. Thanks for the info! I was just curious how the market looks.

Mullinax Ford sells them at 4-5% below MSRP if you order one.

What’s the wait time if you custom order?

@Nova
If they have one in transit, you could get it pretty quickly—maybe a month. For an actual custom order, it’s random. Could be a month, could be nine.

We’ve had two come through as trade-ins, and the response was underwhelming. One sat on our lot for four months with almost zero interest, even when we dropped the price and told buyers to make an offer.

Your area might be different, but around here, the hype has definitely cooled off.

@Peyton
Interesting. It really felt like the Maverick was a hot item when it first came out. I’m guessing hybrids are still the more desirable option. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I think the interior design might have something to do with it. It’s quirky—not bad, but it doesn’t feel cohesive. It didn’t invite me to take it for a spin.

@Peyton
The drop in demand is probably due to interest rates and the fact that supply has finally caught up.

That makes sense. When I checked Carvana, the offers were much lower than they were when these trucks first launched.

PT Cruiser vibes.

We’ve had a 2023 XLT sitting on our lot since December. No one’s even opened the doors except to move it for snow removal.

Wow, that’s surprising. Thanks for letting me know.

@Nova
What color is it?

Alto Blue Metallic.

The Maverick was hot when it first launched because it filled a niche for a cheap, practical truck. But with rising interest rates and higher prices now, demand has cooled off.

If the Maverick fits your needs and you don’t mind the quirks, it’s a good choice. But if you want something more dependable with a solid reputation, Toyota is hard to beat. A used Tacoma might be the better option for peace of mind.
