Just bought 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid (Not going well)

I live in California and bought the 2024 FMH on the 21st. On the 25th, while driving around 45mph, I heard a distinctly louder hum as I was coasting downhill letting the regenerative brakes engage. Moments later, I got “Deaccelerate and pull over” on my dash with the CEL turning on.

The truck is under 300 miles and is stuck in a dealership 2.5 hours away from me. They identified possible issues with:

  1. A connection somewhere in the transmission module
  2. The module itself
  3. The entire transmission possibly being faulty.

Thankfully, the warranty covers the repairs, but it’s frustrating to have such issues on a new truck. After reading about similar experiences online, I’m worried. Has anyone else faced similar problems?

Keep in mind the percentage of complaints is always higher than the percentage of praises. I got a 24 Hybrid and I’ve zero issues after about 300 miles. Wishing you luck and a speedy repair.

300 miles? C’mon. 10,900 miles no issues. 23 Mav Hybrid XLT Lux.

@Rayne
29,100 miles on my AWD Ecoboost. Threw a code once, needed a harness extension and airbag hardware, but it never left me stranded.

My 2022 Ecoboost is a lemon with transmission issues since 3,000 miles. Ford offered repurchase or replacement, and I got a 2024 after a long process. Hopefully, it works out for you.

Glad it worked out for you eventually. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I’ve had my FX4 XLT since March. 15k miles in, I’ve done mudding, towing, hauling, and crawling. No issues other than routine maintenance. I hope yours gets fixed soon!

It’s not that something is failing, it’s that it was defective from the start. Once they fix it, you should be fine.

Once the battery is fully charged, the engine spins off extra energy during downhill descents. It’s a loud revving sound, which is normal. The whole transmission might not be toast.

2022 Maverick Hybrid XL - 14,000 km. One weird engine noise on a cold start-up but no recurring issues. Love the truck overall.

6k miles on my Hybrid, and it’s been great. I get 45 mpg without hypermiling. Hope it works out for you!

Should’ve bought a Tacoma.

Funny you mention that. I drove an ‘07 Tacoma for six years but couldn’t wait months for a new one and went for the Maverick.

Update: After a wild time getting reimbursed for rentals and having my truck delivered back, it’s running fine now. I’ve driven 14,000 miles smooth as heck, and I’m happy overall. Thanks for all the support and advice!
