Keyless entry number pads… the best feature Ford ever had?

I used to envy my friends with this futuristic feature. Anyone else miss these or still use them today?

They still exist! Fleet vehicles still use them so multiple people can access the car without carrying the keys.

Ford actually got rid of it for the F-150 starting this year. It’s still available as a dealer-installed option, but it’s not the same as the factory version.

@Camden
My 2020 Explorer has one! I hope they don’t get rid of it completely—I love that feature.

They’ve been phasing it out across models. Dealers can still add it, but it’s not as good as when it was built-in.

@Camden
That’s disappointing. I use mine all the time because I forget my keys a lot!

Ford kept this feature alive for years. As of 2025, it’s no longer factory-installed but can be added by the dealer for $450.

My 2016 F-150 has it, and I love it. It’s super convenient when I just need to grab something quickly.

It’s so underrated. Pressing the last two keys to lock the truck is a game-changer. I lock my keys inside all the time when I’m at the beach.

As a kid, being able to unlock the car without needing the keys felt like magic.

I don’t trust leaving my keys in the truck. One brick through the window, and it’s gone.

I loved it too! It was like the OG version of keyless entry fobs.

04041942 was the code for my great-grandfather’s 1993 Lincoln Continental.

Well, I guess it’s my 1993 Lincoln now! :wink:

Was that his birthday? It’s crazy to think someone’s great-grandfather could have been born in the '40s!

@Noelani
Nope, it was his wedding anniversary. He loved that car.

Story time: When I was a kid, my dad locked the keys in our car while it was running. He was about to smash the window when I remembered the code—I had seen it just once. I punched it in, unlocked the car, and saved the day. Proudest moment of my childhood!

@Reese
That’s awesome. I would’ve been a hero in my house if I pulled that off!

Ford still offers this on some models. I won’t buy a car without it!

It’s wild that other brands haven’t copied it. Such a simple solution for locking or unlocking without worrying about keys.
