Thinking of buying a Ford Maverick for work, but I put about 35,000 miles a year on vehicles (mostly interstate driving). Has anyone put this type of mileage on yours? If so, any issues?
The oldest Maverick on the road is less than 3 years old, so it’s hard to predict long-term reliability. However, the hybrid engine is well-built, used in other Ford models, and often surpasses 300k miles.
I got my hybrid Maverick in Feb 2023 and already had some issues, including the battery dying after two days of sitting idle. Deep sleep mode on FordPass has also been a problem. I only have 5k miles on it so far, but these battery issues are concerning.
I have a 4K tow AWD EcoBoost with 43,000 miles—no problems and still love it! I’ve also heard of a 100k+ mile Maverick for sale a few months ago, and no major complaints were mentioned.
The hybrid uses the same architecture as the Prius. Ford’s hybrid systems, especially in the Escape, have been proven reliable and durable. NYC taxis with Ford Escape hybrids are still running with hundreds of thousands of miles. I’d avoid the first-year Maverick, though.
The 2.0L turbocharged engine has been a workhorse in Ford models since 2009. The 2.5L hybrid drivetrain has decades of refinement from Toyota and Ford. Preventive maintenance is key to a long-lasting vehicle.
I’ve had my XL Hybrid Maverick for a year and have put 30,000 miles on it. No issues so far, and I averaged 39 mpg on a 16,000-mile road trip. It’s been a great vehicle for me.
Check out YouTube user Daniel Deliverz—he’s put over 100k miles on his Maverick. He had some issues with the transmission but noted he didn’t follow recommended maintenance schedules.
I’ve put 40k on mine in a year, and it’s been great, but I’m worried my loan will outlast the truck. If reliability is your main concern, you might want to look at Japanese midsize trucks or an F-150 with the 5.0L engine. The hybrid fans here are optimistic, but I still have some doubts.
Asking about long-term reliability on a truck that’s barely 3 years old? It’s hard to tell, but some owners with high mileage seem satisfied.
Sounds like you should go hybrid! The platform has been proven in other models, and while there’s not much long-term data on the Maverick, early indicators seem promising.
Thanks for all the input! I think I’m leaning toward the hybrid now based on feedback here. Planning to test drive one when a dealer has it in stock.
