Maverick's too small for my family… Should I trade for a 2018 3.5 F-150 with 50k miles?

Hey forum,

I got a Maverick a while back after waiting 468 days for it. While I love the truck, it’s just too tight for my family. Today, I was ready for a hike, grabbed the Maverick keys, and my wife asked if we could take a different car because it’s cramped. The kids feel the same way, unless they’re in the front seat. I’ve never had a full-size truck, but I know F150s have a lot more space. Plus, there are a lot of mod options compared to my Maverick hybrid.

I’ve been looking at used F150s around 50k miles or less, and I found a nice blue 3.5 model. I might be able to trade in my Maverick and keep my payment the same.

Am I crazy to make the switch?

TLDR: Have a Maverick but it’s too small for my family. Am I crazy to trade for a 2018+ F150 with 50k miles?

I have a 2018 with the 2.7 and love it

If only I could find one in a cool color! :slight_smile:

You will be in love with the F150. And your family will love the space, especially in the back seat. You’ll probably never look back… except for the gas mileage.

Magma Red is the epitome of ‘cool color’ unless you get a 2023 with Area 51.

@Harlem
I’m sure I’ll get hate for this, but I think magma red is overrated. I don’t get why everyone loves it so much. It’s not bad, just not my thing.

@Harlem
I love Area 51 too. Avalanche is another great one, but I wonder if matte colors will feel outdated in a few years. Still, I’m not worried since my current truck is a 2011 with 150k miles.

@Harlem
Velocity Blue is my favorite Ford color.

Go for the 2.7. Better mileage and fewer problems. Plus, it’s usually cheaper.

@Cael
Not many options around me in a 50-mile radius. :frowning:

Why limit yourself to a 50-mile radius? Buying a car is a big deal. Is it really not worth the time to drive a bit further for the exact one you want?

@Charlie
I opened it up to 100 miles and still haven’t found what I’m looking for. :frowning:

I love my Velocity Blue '19 Lariat SuperCrew. People constantly compliment the color. The rear legroom is amazing too—better than my wife’s 2020 Ford Explorer Platinum. Although, I do wish I had the massaging seats she has.

Hopefully, you find one you like! The 3.5 you mentioned sounds great!

Does it really matter?

Yeah, if I’m going to spend a good amount of money, I want to be happy with what I’m looking at.

@Dallas
Look further! A few hundred-mile drive is totally worth it for the right vehicle and a good deal!

I hear you, but I don’t plan to drive a few hundred miles for it.

@Dallas
But what if you could save thousands? A 300-mile drive might be worth it if it saves you that much.

Or I could just wait for one to show up closer. I waited 468 days for my Maverick, I can wait for this one.
