Never done a recall before…should I take my Maverick to the dealer for these updates?

I’m new to recalls and not sure if I should take my Maverick to the dealership to get the recalls done. What’s everyone’s experience been like? Is it worth it?

Yes! I took mine in, and they kept it for two days but covered a rental F-150 for me since I use my truck for work. Ask your dealer if they’ll do the same for you.

You can also try a mobile service. They’ll send a tech to do the recall at your place—saves time! I did mine that way, and most were software updates. Only one was more involved, where they inspected my wiper to check if it was part of the recall.

Definitely do it. Some people here are cautious because of how Ford handled 2022 recalls, but it’s worth getting them taken care of.

I waited for my first oil change at the 1-year mark and got four recalls done at once.

Wait, you waited a year for an oil change?

I waited until the computer told me it was time.

@Jaden
Hybrid or turbo? For the turbo model, every 5K is recommended because the oil also lubricates the turbocharger.

Hybrid.

Do you go with full synthetic or a blend with your turbo? I need to change mine soon and am undecided.

@Keir
I always use synthetic and change every 5k.

I just schedule recalls with my oil changes. Takes a bit longer, but that way I only have to make one trip.

Don’t get any done…for science!

Yes, definitely get them done.

I only go to the Ford dealership for oil changes when a recall is due. If you’re far from the dealership, ask if the recall qualifies for a rental. Last time, they didn’t cover it, so I was stuck with a rental from Enterprise for two days.

@Reagan
That’s rough. I’d look for a dealer that could give you a loaner car if they need to keep it overnight.

Unfortunately, no loaners available. Many dealerships dropped them during the pandemic, and I’m not driving two hours to find one that might have a loaner.

Yeah, go ahead and take care of them. Schedule it so they can either give you a courtesy car or even do a mobile service at your place. All recalls are covered under warranty.

Simple answer: yes.

Yes, get them done.
