I’ve only got 14,000 miles on my truck and the screen is starting to look bad. Anyone else having this issue? Is there an easy fix?
This looks like it could be a bad cable. Does it happen with the regular sync screen too? If yes, it might be a bad ribbon cable inside. If not, and you’re using wired CarPlay, try swapping out the cable.
Yeah, it’s definitely the cord. Screen looks fine when the phone isn’t plugged in.
I’ll check it out, thanks! This is why I asked.
Huh, interesting. I assumed the infotainment screen just displayed data from the phone, didn’t think the cable could cause something like this. Makes me feel old not understanding how this stuff works!
It does, but if the communication is corrupted, you get errors that lead to the screen artifacts. Trust me, I’m an electrical engineer!
This has happened to me once or twice too. A hard reset usually fixes it. Hold down the power button (left volume knob) and the skip forward button until it shuts off and restarts.
Same here! Mine did this after the first month. Had to reset it twice but it hasn’t happened since.
I’ll try that, thanks!
Screen fluid only lasts 15k miles… makes sense you’re seeing this at 14k!
Yep, time for a screen fluid flush!
I had this issue for the first year. Took it in three times and they replaced the screen twice. Turns out it wasn’t the screen but possibly cables or software. Eventually, the issue went away on its own, so I wouldn’t rush to replace the screen.
I had the same problem, and getting a new cord fixed it for me. Does it happen on the regular screen or just when using CarPlay?
This happens to me sometimes, and the screen also freezes occasionally. You can reset it like this: https://youtu.be/S28HtNaxUB4?feature=shared. I’ve made more videos if you want to check them out.
Restart the infotainment system and update the software.
If you’re still under warranty, that might cover it.
Turn it off and back on again. Worked for me!
Most cables from Amazon are junk compared to the stock one. The best cable is the one that comes with your phone. Thickness doesn’t matter, even though the stock ones are usually pretty thin.
You could try taking the screen out and re-seating the cable—it could’ve come loose. There are tutorials on YouTube about how to remove the screen, it’s fairly simple.
