This has probably been posted here, but I’m on the fence about buying a Maverick. What are some pros and cons that you have noticed with your truck? I would come from a 2010 Toyota RAV4 stock, so especially if you came from a similar vehicle! Thank you!!
XLT Turbo AWD with FX4.
Pros: Ride quality is better than expected, easy to maneuver, quiet under 70 mph, spacious interior, perfect small truck dimensions, plenty of turbo power, FordPass app lets you control the vehicle remotely.
Cons: Rear storage is useless with a car seat installed (not 60/40 split), plastics scratch easily, some cabin creaks, black wheels get dirty quickly, loud injectors on 87 octane fuel, skid plate removal required for oil changes, cheap touchpoints like knobs and switches.
No regrets at all, and I got it for $1k under MSRP with 0% financing. At $26-$30k, it’s a steal compared to the competition.
Hybrid XLT Lux Package (120 miles in):
Pros: Great gas mileage, decent power, spacious back seats, bed utility, heated seats and steering wheel, and a sharp design (love my Velocity Blue color).
Cons: Cheap plastics (concern for durability), highway cabin noise on windy days is bad, and the radio is mediocre at higher volumes.
For under $29k out the door, it’s exceeding my expectations! Loving it so far!
XL AWD (Oxford White):
Pros: Solid performance for the price, no major issues so far.
Cons: Paint is prone to chipping—had five chipped spots within the first couple of months, though I haven’t noticed more recently.
XL (customized):
Pros: Affordable AWD truck at $26k out the door, great utility, and customization options.
Cons: Plastics scratch very easily, rear taillight gets dirty on dirt roads (no undercarriage shield on driver’s side), stock speakers and radio are poor, and CarPlay is inconsistent. Also, the ride can feel bouncy on rough roads.
Sold a 2018 Rav4 AWD for an AWD Maverick—no regrets. Similar gas mileage but far more capable and powerful. Plus, it doesn’t feel like I’m driving a ‘mom car’ anymore.
Pros: Cheapest hybrid on sale, incredible fuel efficiency, great payload capacities, and a well-tested drivetrain.
Cons: Order banks are closed until August, some cost-cutting is noticeable, and dealerships can be a pain to work with.
Cons: The seats in the XLT are not great—might be worth upgrading to the Lariat if you care about seat comfort.
Super cool that you have a 2010 RAV4! The Maverick is an excellent choice, but keep in mind the 2022 models are sold out, and you won’t be able to order a 2023 until August. Good luck!
