Should I really go for a Ford Maverick or not?

Even with a bigger truck like a Ranger or Colorado, you’d still probably need a rack for the canoe. A hitch-mounted bike rack could free up bed space too.

Before deciding, you should also check out the Honda Ridgeline. It has a much bigger back seat, smoother ride, and is easy to maneuver. It might be a better fit for your family.

But what about the price? Isn’t it more expensive?

You can find lightly used Ridgelines, like lease returns, for around $30K. It’s worth considering since it’s a lot more truck than the Maverick.

The Ridgeline is a solid option for families, especially if you’re into camping. Tons of space and utility.

The Maverick is great, but the back seat can be tight. I’m 6ft tall and would feel cramped sitting behind myself. Also, I’ve had some quality concerns with mine—like water leaking into the cabin from the HVAC system. That said, it’s fun to drive and super practical for everyday use.

I was close to buying a Maverick, but between the dealer games, Ford’s spotty reliability, and their track record with fulfilling orders, I passed on it.
