How reliable is it? How many miles can it last with regular oil changes and proper maintenance?
There aren’t many high-mileage examples yet since it’s only the second model year.
It’s tough to tell with the Maverick since it’s only been around since 2022. I’d recommend checking out the reliability of the Ford Escape, especially the hybrid or the 2.0t engine versions, since the powertrains and platforms have been the same since 2020. You can also look at the Bronco Sport from 2021 onward. Ford’s hybrid system is very similar to Toyota’s, and Ford hybrids have generally been pretty reliable, though I can’t speak for the 2.0t engine.
The Maverick hasn’t been out too long, but most of its parts come from the Ford Escape. The highest-mileage one I know is owned by YouTuber Daniel Delivers, who already has over 80,000 miles on his without any major issues. However, the known weak point is the transmission. The automatic in the turbo models is rated for 250 ft-lbs of torque, but the engine makes 270 ft-lbs at its peak.
You could ask over at r/FordMaverickTruck for more details.
It’s essentially just the Ford Escape with the back chopped off. It has a decent powertrain, but it’s not as reliable as the Toyota, Honda, or Kia/Hyundai hybrids.
What are your transportation needs?
The Maverick, like the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline (if you need something larger), is essentially just a car with a bed. These are unibody vehicles, which limits their towing and payload capabilities. They are front-wheel-drive biased and will send power to the rear only when necessary, but not enough to help you get out of situations like mud or snow. If you’re okay with that, then it could work for you.
I have one and I love it. So far, I’ve hauled 2000 lbs of cement (two trips), a lot of wood for a shed, and towed two heavy waverunners without any issues. I get 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. It fits everywhere. The interior is cheap plastic, and the front seats are about a 7/10 on comfort. My daughters say the back seats are pretty uncomfortable, rating them 4/10. I only have 8000 miles so far, so I can’t speak to long-term reliability. Hope this helps!
