What’s up with these dealer markups going nuts?

@Xan
Yeah, no thanks. That’s a hard pass.

Can we just report these places to Ford already?

Called GMC about a $10k markup once. They said dealers can do whatever they want.

This kind of greed kills the industry.

Why doesn’t Ford do something about this?

And then these cars just sit on lots forever.

Yeah, until someone desperate buys it.

Dealerships probably love having a ‘showroom piece.’

Seen a Dodge Viper sit for over a year with a $60k markup. Someone eventually paid it though.

Worked at a Raleigh dealership that had a marked-up Viper. A doctor bought it for cash and totaled it the next day.

@Corey
That’s tragic but also… kind of expected?

Vipers and markups… a story as old as time.

Having a Raptor on display is like marketing gold. Mark it up so it doesn’t sell quickly and use it to draw people in.

Makes sense, but still feels slimy.

We wouldn’t have this problem if people weren’t dumb enough to pay these prices.

Yeah, stop feeding the beast, people.

Do these cars ever actually sell at markup?

People paying these prices are just as dumb as the dealers charging them.

That’s why it’s called a ‘mark’ up.

Dealers should just call buyers ‘marks’ instead of ‘customers.’ At least be honest.

@Ben
People need to stop buying these cars with markups. Covid is over.

Why are people still falling for this?
