Who else compared the Honda Ridgeline and Ford Maverick?

Has anyone here tested a Maverick (especially a Tremor) but ended up picking a Ridgeline? What didn’t you like about the Maverick, and what made the Ridgeline better for you? How would you compare their AWD systems? Thanks for sharing!

The Ridgeline has more room for families and carries 3-4 people (or 5 in a pinch). Its bed size and functionality are way better. But if it’s just you, a Maverick might work fine for commuting, small jobs, or weekend projects. Personally, I prefer how the Ridgeline rides and feels.

I’ve had six people in my Ridgeline before! It also tows more, and I’d say Honda parts availability is better than Ford’s. Reliability-wise, I’d pick Honda every time.

Six people? Did you throw a kid in the trunk?

Lol, can’t believe no one’s marketed a ‘kid compartment’ yet.

Nope, just coworkers for a party. The rear bench is roomy enough for adults, though it’s a bit firm.

Thanks for the insight! I’m coming from a 2011 Subaru Impreza hatchback. I’m looking for something that sits higher, with a bed for my kayak and fishing gear. Leaning towards the Ridgeline now!

I’ve owned both. The Maverick hybrid was great for MPG (I got 50mpg over 10k miles) but felt cheap—lots of rattles and easy-to-scratch plastics. The Ridgeline is better in every way except MPG. It’s more spacious, quieter, and reliable, with better interior quality.

Same! I had a Maverick hybrid but sold it for a Ridgeline. The Maverick was fun to drive, but the RL wins on everything else, including ride comfort.

Do you sit higher in the Maverick or the Ridgeline?

Definitely the Ridgeline.

Thanks for sharing! I want to sit higher and be able to haul my fishing gear and kayak. Sounds like the Ridgeline is a better fit.

They’re pretty different trucks. The Ridgeline is midsize with a solid naturally aspirated engine, while the Maverick is a smaller, turbocharged compact. Ridgeline offers better towing and standard features. Mavericks are affordable but hard to find at MSRP.

Ford’s 2.0L EcoBoost is pretty reliable. But yeah, if I weren’t going hybrid, I’d look at the Ranger over the Maverick.

What’s your take on the 2024 Ranger?

If you want midsize capability with a rugged edge, it’s a solid choice. But for comfort and interior space, the Ridgeline still wins.

I was considering a Maverick for the fuel economy, but delays and markups pushed me to the Ridgeline. The Ridgeline fits my family, pets, and gear better, and the bed trunk is incredibly useful. Honda just feels more refined overall.

How’s the AWD on the Ridgeline? I saw you mentioned it struggles a bit on muddy roads.

It’s decent, but stock tires play a role. The Mud mode helps, though it’s not quite Subaru’s X-Mode. For most conditions, it handles fine.

My dealer’s selling Mavericks for $47k, and I can get a Black Edition Ridgeline for $48k. Easy choice.
