Does anyone know why Ford would put the steering wheel heater on the passenger side? And what’s supposed to go in that empty space? Maybe something from another model?
@Jo
Thanks, I was hoping someone would have the answer. Appreciate it!
@Jo
Could be fun to swap it out for something useful if possible.
@Kieran
It’s weird that the XLT doesn’t have any blank spots, but the Lariat does.

Same here, it annoys me. I paid extra for the top trim, but I get blank buttons? Feels cheap.
@Galen
The 25s Lariat has blanks too, this time by the card slot on hybrids.
@Kieran
Mine has it too.
I hate how the recirculation button turns off automatically. If I’m stuck in traffic, I don’t want exhaust smells coming in. I shouldn’t have to keep pressing it.

It’s probably a safety thing. Manuals often say not to leave it on for too long, like more than 30 minutes.
You think that’s bad? Look at where the 2025s put the pro trailer backup assist next to the volume knob. It’s ridiculous!
I was just talking to my wife about this exact button issue, lol.
Honda puts the button on the steering wheel. Ford’s choice seems weird.
I think it’s for the heated mirrors.

No, the heated mirrors use the top left button.
How much do you care about fixing it?
Why did they go with a temperature icon instead of a readout?

Probably to save costs or because of parts shortages. They stopped doing temp readouts either midway through 2020 or starting in 2021, I think.
@Mackenzie
The readouts were only on the first batch of 2022s. First year of production.

That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. I had my years wrong.
