10K mile review of my 2022 Maverick XL EcoBoost... thoughts?

Hey folks! Back again with my 10k mile update on my 2022 Maverick XL EcoBoost FWD. It’s been a solid ride overall, but not without a few quirks and hiccups. Thought I’d share my experience so far—hopefully it’s helpful to anyone considering the Maverick or looking for feedback. Let’s chat!

Great review! How’s the ride quality been? I’ve heard mixed things about the Maverick’s suspension.

It’s firm but manageable—definitely truck-like. Handles heavy loads well, but you feel the bumps more than in an SUV.

Would you say it’s too stiff for daily commuting? Or is it fine if you’re used to trucks?

If you’re used to trucks, you’ll be fine. For SUV folks, it might feel a bit harsh at first, but you get used to it.

What’s your take on the interior materials? I’ve seen people call it ‘cheap’ but functional.

Spot on. It’s a sea of plastic, but it’s designed well. The cobalt blue in the XL is a nice touch. Scratches easily, though.

Do the scratches bother you? I’m worried mine will look terrible after a couple of years.

It’s a utility vehicle, so I’m not too fussed. But yeah, don’t expect it to age like a luxury car interior.

How’s the power on that EcoBoost? Enough for highway and hauling?

Plenty of power! Passing and merging are no issue. Even with the bed loaded, it’s quick enough. 250 hp does the job!

Nice. Is it noisy when you push it? I’ve heard mixed reviews about engine sound.

Yeah, it’s not the nicest sound under full throttle. But the 8-speed auto shifts smoothly, so it’s not a dealbreaker.

Any tech issues? I’ve heard the XL is pretty basic, but does it hold up?

The basics are fine, but the Bluetooth is awful. CarPlay fixes most issues if you use a cable, but it’s annoying.

What’s wrong with the Bluetooth? Just bad connection, or something else?

Connection issues mostly. Sometimes it won’t connect or drops audio. Calls default to my phone instead of the car, too.

Any major problems so far? 10k miles is a good stretch to see how it holds up.

Just one—a power window switch failed around 8k miles. Took a month to fix, and duct tape messed up the paint a bit.

Yikes. Is the clear coat really that thin? Wondering how it’ll hold up long term.
