2 weeks with my truck and it’s already been hit

They broke into my truck and left the console sitting on the back seat but took my backpack with some controllers. They ignored a Nintendo Switch worth hundreds and went through all the compartments to grab the bag. Now I’m stuck paying my deductible to replace two windows. I’ve had this thing for 2 weeks and already have to deal with this. I walked around the complex, and mine was the only car they hit. Three cars down, there was a Volvo with two backpacks sitting inside and an open window. Unbelievable.

Don’t leave bags in your car, ever.

It’s the one time I didn’t take everything inside. Normally I clear out the truck, but I was exhausted. Lesson learned. I’m just lucky my work bag wasn’t in there. That has my work PC with sensitive stuff on it. It’s like this was bound to happen the moment I didn’t listen to my gut.

@Ira
That sucks. I’ve had my car broken into more times than I want to admit. Cameras helped me—haven’t had an issue since. A light and an obvious camera might deter them.

My wife leaves stuff in mine sometimes too, even though I tell her not to. I’ll look into a motion-detection floodlight and maybe a camera soon.

I leave stuff in mine all the time. I just don’t go to sketchy places.

Well, aren’t you lucky?

Not really, I just live outside the city.

@Rowan
I’m not even in the city, and it still happened to me.

You really can’t leave anything in your car. I’ve learned to blend anything I might leave with the interior colors.

It’s wild because they took a bag from under the seat in a hidden compartment. They didn’t grab anything that was out in the open.

@Ira
Man, that’s rough. I lost my first Maverick in a crash before I even hit the first oil change. Glad everyone was okay, but the whole process was a nightmare.

Sorry to hear that. People suck sometimes.

I’ve considered it, but I drive a lot in rural areas at night. Dark tint can make visibility tough on unlit roads.

Try a mix: 5% on back windows, 20% on the front ones. Add a sunshade at night for extra privacy.

Was it really bright inside? Could they see stuff?

There’s a light above the garage and my interior lights too. But the bag they took was under the seat, so it’s weird they even knew it was there.

@Ira
Under the seat? That’s surprising.

Yeah. Hidden compartment under the back seat.
