Anyone actually use a Ford Maverick for work?

This forum is strictly for professionals in the trade. If you’re not an electrician, please ask your questions in a more general forum for advice.

I have a Maverick for personal use, but honestly, it’s not great as a work truck. Not enough space for tools or materials. If you’re serious about a work vehicle, look into a van instead.

Good point, thanks! A van might be more practical for what I need.

Vans are the way to go. They’re spacious, organized, and you don’t have to crawl around for your stuff. Way better for your knees!

Also, everything stays dry and secure. Much less hassle.

Plus, if you’re stuck on-site, it doubles as a restroom. Not ideal, but sometimes necessary.

Sounds like you’ve had to do that a few times, huh?

Why did I read this in Fat Bastard’s voice?

Maybe because it fits the vibe, haha!

We use Mavericks for our estimators and vans for the techs. It depends on the role, but vans win for storage.

Agreed. Vans are much better overall.

Why do people say trucks are more suited for apprentices?

Probably because apprentices don’t carry as much heavy equipment daily.

Most apprentices just haul their personal tools and join the journeyman in their vehicle for work.

Trucks are fine if you’re doing residential work. I use mine for both home projects and work, and it gets the job done.

I wish smaller work vans were still widely available. We’re now looking into pickups with caps for added storage.

The Mercedes Metris is great for tight spaces like parking garages, and it can hold long ladders inside, but it’s expensive to maintain.

Sounds good for certain jobs, but maybe not worth the cost.

My Metris has been unreliable. It’s broken down multiple times, and repairs are costly. I wouldn’t recommend it for heavy work.
