Anyone try making a custom Raptor grille for a Maverick?

I’ve been thinking about getting into the aftermarket business, especially with custom parts for the Maverick. I’m 21 and want to design a Ford Raptor-style grille for the Maverick and sell them online. I can model it in AutoCAD and 3D, but I’m unsure if I should use a CNC machine or 3D printer for this. Anyone have experience with this? Is the market too crowded, or is it worth a shot?

They call him O’Fordo, the grille master…

Ford Maverick, the only truck that’s actually 'oford’able!

Same here! It’s stuck in my head now.

I kinda want the lights, but every time I see one now I’ll think of this ‘O’Fordo’ thing and crack up.

The lights are easy to install, but yeah, it’s hard to unsee. The grille itself is just a slight improvement over stock, nothing groundbreaking though.

It’s like the Maverick is wearing reading glasses lol

Just move to China, no one there cares about Ford’s legal threats.

These grilles are already on the market for around $250. But props to you for trying something new and learning along the way!

Can you show me where to find it? I’ve been looking but can’t find anything decent.

Yep, that’s the one! I haven’t bought it yet though because wiring stuff freaks me out.

Wiring is actually pretty simple. You just tap into the side marker lights. It’s like Ford left it there just waiting for us to install extra lights.

For parts like this, injection molding is the way to go. You’d need to design the part, make the molds, and then get an injection molding factory to produce them. Usually, they’ll require a minimum order of 100+ pieces though.

Also, AutoCAD isn’t the best tool for this kind of work. Try something like Inventor, Fusion, or SolidWorks instead. But to be honest, there’s already a lot of these grilles on eBay, so maybe pick something less saturated to start with.

If you’re putting the Ford logo on it, you’ll need a licensing deal with Ford. They’re not easy to get, and you’ll need to pay a percentage of sales with a minimum fee, even if you don’t sell enough to cover it. Licensing is a pain in the butt in the aftermarket business (I did it for 10 years).

@Tilden
I saw a YouTuber install one of these. The Ford letters were optional though. Looked like a real pain to install.

Yeah, another person posted a link where you can get them. Seems like the letters aren’t mandatory.

Do you have a link to a guide on installing it? Couldn’t find one.

@Tilden
Just make it say DOOD like in the good old days!

I’d love to add this to my Maverick, sounds like a cool project!
