A friend of mine was volunteering after Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina and spotted this truck. Thought I’d share it here.
Wonder how long before the owner asks if this truck is totaled.
It got off pretty easy compared to some others. They’ve probably already checked it for bodies too.
Do they usually leave the doors open after checking a car for bodies?
Right now they’re in recovery mode (with almost 100 people still missing), so an open door could mean they’ve already searched it. When you’re dealing with a disaster of this size, you do what you can to save time.
They probably open the doors to drain out water faster, makes it easier to tow. Or maybe the damage to the frame is so bad that the doors won’t close anymore.
Not really liking that image…
Did it go into ‘sleep mode’? I’ve heard that’s a common issue with this model.
Yep, hasn’t been started in a few days, so it probably did.
I don’t drive every day and haven’t run into that problem yet.
Just some good ol’ “truck stuff” happening here.
That’s really sad to see.
Maybe the hybrid battery is toast?
Eh, it’ll buff right out!
Gonna need the world’s biggest bag of rice to dry this one out.
I noticed the number ‘8872’ on the tailgate. Looks like it was probably a fleet vehicle. I bet the company who owned it is getting a nice insurance payout.
I’m calling it now… gonna show up on Facebook marketplace for $15k ‘slightly used, I know what I got.’
Man, that’s a real bummer.
Dang. And here I was complaining about spilling a soda in my car today. This puts things into perspective. Hope everything’s going okay otherwise for the owner.
