Guys Do you prefer the newest generation of Ranger or the new Ford Maverick?
I like the looks of the Maverick, but I think it would fit the Ranger name better, tbh. Just swap the names.
The Maverick most definitely looks more Ranger-like than a new Ranger.
Highly disagree. Outside of the States, the Ranger was never discontinued. It just grew in size along with its competitors like the Tacoma and Colorado. Changing its name to Maverick in the States would be a bad marketing move. Plus, the Maverick is unibody while the Ranger is body-on-frame. Vastly different trucks.
I’m a salesman at a Ford dealership and currently on my second Ranger. I’ve driven a ton of Mavericks; they’re a cool truck but completely different than the Ranger. The Maverick is easier to drive and has cool features like under-seat storage, bed storage, and better mpg. However, it falls short in off-road capability and towing compared to the Ranger. I recommend the Maverick to anyone who doesn’t plan to tow or off-road, but the Ranger is the way to go for more capability.
I like Maverick dimensions, but sadly it’s a trucky car.
I’ve never been able to convince myself that I like the new Ranger. It looks disproportionate—like it’s a bit too tall for the rest of its body.
I really haven’t grown to like the new Ranger yet. Too big, IMO. Maverick is cool, but it’s a unibody. If I had to pick, Maverick.
It depends on what you do. If you need to tow more than 4K pounds, get a Ranger. If you want a truck’s functionality but mpg like a car, get a Maverick. If you want to off-road, go for the Ranger. Personally, I got a Ranger since I need more towing and off-road capability.
I love my new Ranger. I needed something smaller to replace my wife’s Jeep, and this exceeded my expectations. The Maverick is nice but more of a car than a truck. It’s unibody, and we wanted 4WD. Our ‘22 Ranger was the perfect choice.
I like the Maverick, but I went with the Ranger. Some of the off-roading I do, the Maverick couldn’t handle well. I also occasionally tow my Fox Body and car trailer, which come to about 6,500 lbs. The Ranger had everything I needed at a better price than a full-size truck.
If I wasn’t into getting out to remote locations, I’d absolutely go with the Maverick. But since I prefer going through terrain that would kill the Maverick, I’ll stick with my Tremor.
The Maverick is essentially a CUV with a bed. It’s primarily designed for on-road and lighter-duty use. The Ranger is a true truck with body-on-frame architecture and more off-road capability. It depends on your needs—similar to choosing between an F-150 and F-250.
Maverick. An AWD 2.0 Ecoboost with some bolt-ons could make a fun little grocery getter.
I like the looks of the brand-new Ranger a little more, but I think I like the Maverick more. It’s smaller. I just wish I could get one with less back seat and more bed.
My preference is the Ranger (I own a ‘22 Tremor). It’s a fantastic mid-size truck with practicality and capability. The Maverick is great, but it’s more of a car with some truck capability.
