My engine and battery lights came on in my 2024 Maverick… anyone know what I should do or if I can still drive it?
Dealership time… then wait forever, leave without a loaner, and figure out a ride… Bonus if you bought the extended warranty so they give you a $40 voucher for an $80 rental. If you’re lucky.
Wow, totally different experience here. Took mine in and got a loaner within 30 minutes, and they fixed the issue the same day. Barely had the loaner for a few hours.
Man, I’m jealous. My truck was at the dealership for 17 days… turned out it was just a bad battery, but it still took 3 days to order it. No loaner the entire time.
That’s rough. My battery died completely… truck went into low power mode then just quit. Dealer picked me up, turns out I needed the recall update and a new battery. They let me drive a Bronco while I waited for a few hours.
How many miles did you have when this happened? Did you have the same lights on the dashboard before and after starting the truck?
Around 4000 miles. When it died, nothing on the dash at all. Got it jumped just to put it in neutral for the tow truck. After that, check engine light came on with low power mode, but it died again soon after. (I posted about it earlier, check my history.)
Used the Ford app for roadside assistance and got it towed. The dealer said the software update and new battery would solve it, and it’s been fine since then.
Thanks! I guess I’ll wait and see if anything changes this weekend. Fingers crossed the truck doesn’t die on me
I had engine problems with my Mav too. Got a loaner the next day, no extended warranty needed, and didn’t pay a cent while they replaced the engine. Though I did spend extra filling up the rental Explorer’s gas tank!
Loaners at my dealership were booked 2-3 months in advance last time I checked. They even wanted me to leave my truck there ‘just in case’ parts came in. No way I’m buying another Ford.
Yep, that sounds more like my experience…
This was after I waited over 3 hours for an oil change I had an appointment for at 7 am! They told me 45 minutes tops. Feels like a clown show there.
That’s gotta be specific to your dealership. I had to leave mine for 2 months, but they got me a rental with Hertz at no cost to me.
Our Ford dealership has always done us right with rentals and warranty work. Sounds like some places just don’t have it together.
The factory 12-volt batteries in these are notorious for being terrible. When mine goes out in my 2024, I’m just buying a better one. Some people are on their 3rd or 4th battery from Ford already. I don’t have time for that.
I bought an AGM battery from Amazon, fit perfectly.

Yikes, I’ve got the same mileage and model as you. Now I’m worried.
Did the lights come on after you started it? Or did they stay on while driving?
