So, Ford’s 2024 numbers are out, and they’re looking pretty solid. Maverick sales are up 39.4% over 2023, with 131,142 units sold. The F-Series is still America’s top truck, and their hybrid/electric lineup is growing fast too. But I noticed there’s some chatter about quality issues and recalls. What do you all think—is Ford smashing it this year, or is it more about overcoming problems?
The 39% increase in Maverick sales is wild. Hermosillo must be running at full tilt to keep up with demand!

For real, but I bet they could’ve sold even more if not for the camera recall. Tons of 2024s just sitting at dealerships.

Wait, what’s the camera recall about? Haven’t heard much.

It was a stop-sale issue with the rearview camera. Some models had faulty cameras, so deliveries got delayed.

Ah, that makes sense. Still, 39% growth despite that? Not bad at all.
I’ve been seeing way more Mavericks and Mach-Es on the road lately. Those numbers totally check out.

Same here, especially Mach-Es. Surprised they call it an SUV though—it’s more like a sporty wagon, right?
@Emerson
Yeah, it’s kinda in between. Ford doesn’t really have a ‘wagon’ category anymore, so I guess SUV works?
Ford’s electrified vehicle sales are impressive, but I wonder how much of that is because of the free home charger deal?

The free charger is a nice touch. I think it helped, but people are also just more into hybrids and EVs now.
@Chen
True, hybrids are killing it. The F-150 and Maverick hybrids are setting records too.
The Mustang numbers are kinda low though. Do you think it still makes sense for Ford to keep producing it?

Mustang’s an image vehicle, like Chevy’s Corvette. Even with lower sales, it’s great for branding.

Yeah, but imagine if they brought back affordable pricing like the old days. They’d sell way more.
OEM press releases are always a little hyped up. Let’s see how the stock market reacts to earnings before we get too excited.

Fair point, but the raw sales numbers seem legit. Hard to fake those.

Yeah, true. Still, the market cares more about profit margins than unit sales.
