I really hope two-door midsized trucks make a comeback. Some people just need a bigger bed instead of a full back row. The Maverick is a good deal for the price though.

The Maverick is great for families, but the Ranger is better for work.
@Sunny
I’ve got an old Ranger and a newer Tacoma. The Ranger hauls way more, even if it’s not as comfy or powerful. I’ll never get rid of it.

Same here. My Ranger isn’t going anywhere.
@Sunny
The Maverick can tow more than most old Rangers. I’ve got a ‘98 4x4 with 240k miles that I’ll only let go of when rust takes it, but I’d happily use a Maverick for my farm work.

Good point! I’m holding onto my 2010 FX4 until the rust wins.

They won’t bring back regular cabs because they don’t sell. I’ve had a regular cab S10 and a Ranger, and there’s no space for anything inside. I’d love an extended cab with a 6ft bed instead of a full back row.
@Valentine
They do sell as fleet vehicles. I see plenty of two-door Rangers and Colorados being used for work. But yeah, the Maverick’s unibody design makes it less practical for heavy-duty jobs.
@Valentine
In Europe, the Ranger comes with regular and extended cab options. Ford doesn’t offer them here because they’d compete with the F-150.
@Valentine
I’ve got a regular cab, and it works for me because I’ve got a big toolbox in the bed. But yeah, an extended cab with a 6ft bed would be ideal.

Same here, but my toolbox eats up too much bed space. I even built a light bar that mounts where the toolbox goes, so now the box just sits in storage.
@Valentine
Regular cab trucks might not sell much, but the Maverick as it is now is selling like crazy. Ford stopped taking orders because they couldn’t keep up with demand.

I was talking about regular cabs specifically. Those haven’t sold well in years, and automakers don’t want to go through the hassle of crash testing them again.

Ford should bring back the original Ranger cab options: standard, extended, and crew. I think they’d sell way better.
The Maverick is like the spiritual successor to the old Ranger. If they made a version with a bigger bed, I’d be sold. My ‘05 Ranger only has 85k miles, so no rush for me to upgrade.

Yes, please! A Maverick with a 6ft bed would be amazing. I really liked the suicide doors on the older models too.
@Dorian
My ‘04 with suicide doors and the longer bed is the perfect setup. Just enough cab space for gear and a bed big enough for most jobs.
@Dorian
I’d love a 6ft bed and a manual transmission. My main need is a bed I can sleep in.
