Would you have remained with the eco boost or the hybrid?
Having looked at both, I am not sure which engine to choose, but they are both the same price. Neither awd nor fwd will, in my opinion, break dealers. Own a Subaru right now, and I don’t think I have ever needed one. I have read a lot, but I could need some more information.
I own both, and the Lariat Hybrid is definitely the way to go. I have a ‘22 Lariat Hybrid and a ‘23 Tremor XLT, and in my opinion, the Lariat Hybrid is 100 times better.
I have a '23 Hybrid Lariat Lux in the popular Cactus Gray. First off, it is incredibly smooth with no noticeable gear shifts, just pure acceleration. Second, it is quiet, smooth, and surprisingly zippy, averaging over 42 mpg.
My wife drives a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Limited with only 36k miles, and I’m not a fan of how the CVT responds. It hesitates in emergencies, redlining the engine without much movement. It reminds me of rubber bands, and it only gets around 28 mpg.
For 95% of driving conditions, the Maverick is the clear winner. The Subaru shines in extreme weather or winter driving, situations where you would typically prefer to stay home.
Same here. The hybrid’s highway MPG isn’t much better than the EcoBoost, but I would definitely miss the power and AWD of the EcoBoost. I drive this across the country as a traveling tech, and it replaced my AWD 2.0T Escape with 150k miles, so I knew exactly what I was getting into.
