You should purchase your order and resale it to a stealership if you decide you no longer desire it. It seems to be the only moral course of action. I paid $32,500 for it out of the door, and I sold it this morning for $38,300. Simple financial gain. We, the customers, most definitely deserve it over any dealership that would carry out the same action.
Well, perhaps emphasising ethical was too much. What if we did the only logical thing?
Although the market is cooling off, the value of in-demand cars like the Rav4, Maverick, and CR-V remains high. In this situation, the dealership honored the MSRP, meaning they can’t mark up the price for profit. The seller, however, can make a profit by selling it back to the dealer, who will then significantly increase the price. Both sides benefit from this arrangement.
Bottom line, don’t cancel your order. Buy the truck and sell it for a profit if you don’t want to keep it.
At least you got one. Don’t feel bad, either. My dealer, despite being nice and letting me test drive a used XL, marked it up to $35k with 6k miles on it. Meanwhile, my new hybrid Lariat is priced at $35k before taxes and tags.
At this point, I’m getting comfortable with the car I bought in March and will probably decide to flip the new one rather than keep it. That’s still up in the air, though, since I’ve been waiting 11 months and just hope it gets built this time around.
I am noticing more of them on the road lately. I have got an order in for a 2023 is there still demand for 2022 models above MSRP? I might consider selling.
Or, just a thought, maybe consider not contributing to the crazy resale prices. You could sell it to someone genuinely looking for one at a slight markup to cover taxes, title, and license. That truck is likely going to be priced over $40k. But hey, I’m not mad at you. Anyone willing to pay $40k+ for a Maverick is basically asking to get ripped off by the dealer, and they’re the real reason dealerships charge these insane prices.
It is also evident that Ford can, should, and ought to increase the Maverick’s starting price to $32,000.
Executives at Ford are using all of these truck flipper posts as leverage to drive up the price of this truck.
A quick and meager $5K is more valuable to people than a morally and ethically grounded society. A major disappointment. Perhaps Ford won’t even attempt the next time.
