Thinking about getting a Ford Maverick… worth it or not?

That’s fine. The heaviest thing I’d haul would probably be some garden supplies.

I’d only be interested if it was the old-school 70s version. No idea about the new one.

They don’t make Honda Elements anymore, so you’re stuck with older models, which will naturally have more issues. That said, back when I worked at a Honda dealership, we couldn’t keep them on the lot. Same goes for the original Ridgeline.

They seem alright. I heard U-Haul bought a bunch for rentals, so maybe you could test one out that way.

Do you really think Ford is more reliable than Honda?

I don’t think anyone here said that.

I’ve got a base model EcoBoost, and I love it. The hybrid gets better mileage, but I like the power of the EcoBoost. It’s surprisingly quick in sport mode, and I’m averaging around 28 mpg overall. Only downside is the base wheels—they look terrible, so I swapped them out immediately.

Feels like a waste of money to me.

Forget the Element. They’ve become niche collector cars, and the prices are way too high now.

I’m a Ford mechanic. So far, I’ve only seen a few recalls and regular maintenance on Mavericks. They seem to be holding up well.

Take one for a test drive. The hybrid had some early recalls, but that’s pretty normal for a new model. The EcoBoost version is surprisingly fast, and the controls are straightforward with a mix of buttons and a touchscreen. Price-wise, it’s pretty reasonable for a new vehicle. Personally, I’m thinking of getting one to replace my Ridgeline, which had some serious transmission issues.

I’ve been using an XLT hybrid for a year now as my daily driver. It’s perfect for commuting and small hauling jobs. I tow a trailer occasionally, and it handles fine, even with around 2,500 lbs. No issues so far, and I’m averaging 42 mpg.

Check out the Nissan Frontier instead.

If you want a compact truck, the Tacoma is a more reliable option.

Tacoma’s not really compact; it’s a midsize like the Frontier. Still, it’s a great choice for the person who started this thread.
