Saw some cool DIY posts on this forum and a few YouTube tutorials, so I decided to paint my steelies black. I really like how the black gives my truck a cleaner, sharper look!
I used Rust-Oleum 2X paint and primer spray, got two cans for $6 each at Walmart but only needed one. Whole process took around 2 hours, and most of that time was just waiting for the paint to dry.
I actually went, ‘mmm,’ when I saw this… you did a great job.
I think it only looks this good because of the black body color too.

This would still look cool on lighter colors like Oxford white, terrain, or cactus grey honestly.

Honestly, kinda gives a ‘cop truck’ vibe now.
Usually, I’m not into the blackout look, but it works really well on steelies.
You might wanna try plastidip if you want the option to peel it off later.
Love how this turned out! I did it on my ‘00 Blazer a while back. Can’t wait to get a Maverick so I can do it again!

Good call! I’ve got leftover paint, so I’ll definitely touch them up when needed.

Not if you mask it off carefully. Or just remove the wheel to be safe.

I actually took the tires off completely and used painter’s tape and paper around the rims so it’d be neat.
Looks awesome! If you tinted the windows darker, you’d have a total mafia vibe going.

I’d love to, but I’m in California, and I’ve already pushed past the legal limit on tint, so not sure I can go any darker without risking a ticket lol.

Just to clarify in case anyone’s wondering… I did take the tires off to get a clean paint job.
