Thinking of adding heated seats… worth it?

Nice! Heated seats are a game changer, especially with hybrids since the engine doesn’t heat up quickly.

Can you explain that? We just got a hybrid, and I’m confused why remote start doesn’t heat the cabin. Is there any way to fix this or defrost windows faster in the morning? Leaving the settings on high doesn’t seem to work.

@Madden
Not sure, but mine starts the gas engine and turns on the heated seats and wheel. I have the luxury package on my XLT—maybe that’s why.

@Madden
There’s an option for that in FordPass you might need to adjust.

@Madden
If I start it using the app, the engine comes on if it’s cold out. If it’s above 45°F, the engine doesn’t always start. Maybe it’s the same for you?

@Madden
There’s a setting in the app or vehicle settings where you can configure the climate control and heated seats to activate automatically based on temperature.

@Madden
Don’t leave it on auto. Turn the fan to max and crank up the heat manually.

Is it really that cheap? I’m in Minnesota with a 2023 XL Hybrid. It’s hitting -5°F this week. My partner isn’t used to this kind of cold… she’s from New Mexico and Texas. Would a $30-$50 universal seat heater from Amazon be a decent option?

@Bailey
I was quoted $499 for both seats by one shop and $599 by another. Both were recommended by dealerships. I thought about DIY but didn’t want the hassle. If you know someone who can install the Amazon kits, go for it. But shops usually prefer using their own materials.

@Caius
Sounds like a great deal! What brand of heaters did you go with?

I didn’t pick them—the shop used what they typically install in Fords. They work with local dealerships and have stock options ready to go.

@Caius
Got it, thanks! My shop lets me bring in my own, so I’ll figure something out.

@Bailey
I had aftermarket heated seats in my old F150, and they were fine. But the factory ones in my Maverick heat up faster and get way hotter. I wouldn’t go back.

@Bailey
I’ve installed plenty of those Amazon or eBay kits for people. They usually hold up pretty well.

$237 for heated seats is an amazing deal. Even if it’s not the cheapest ever, I’d say it’s totally worth it.

That’s a solid price. Those kits are usually $30-$40 per seat, leaving the shop with about $200 to cover a couple of hours of labor. It’s not just slapping on a pad; they remove the seat, install the heater, wire it up, and put everything back together. When you think about all that effort, it’s money well spent for a warm seat!

I tried installing heated seats myself once. Pulling the cushions off was such a pain. Next time, I’ll pay someone to do it.

It’s crazy that heated seats aren’t standard.

Agreed! I love my Maverick, but Ford’s nickel-and-diming on trims is frustrating.
