Thinking of leasing a Maverick

The MSRP at my local dealership for the Maverick is $27,675, and I plan to negotiate that down by 7%-10% before applying any incentives. My goal is to lease it for 48 months with no down payment and 12k miles per year, which works well for me. I’ve done my homework, calculated the lease on Edmunds, and I can comfortably afford the payments. I just want to save as much as possible on the lease. I am heading to the dealership in two days, so any additional tips would be appreciated.

I hate to break it to you, but getting a 7-10% discount before any incentives is highly unlikely and there probably aren’t any incentives to begin with. You might be able to get around 5% off. Best of luck.

Around me, dealers are giving Mavericks a $500 discount without haggling, but a ten percent discount is obviously a pipe dream. OP, I guess you gave it a shot.

$500 amounts to less than 2%.

There is only about a 3% difference between the MSRP and the invoice price on a Maverick.

Avoid leasing. Essentially, it’s a long-term rental with terrible rates and a hefty balloon payment at the conclusion. There is a reason why leases generate some of a dealership’s best earnings.

Especially when you consider the cost of leasing versus buying with $0 down. I ended up paying just $10 more a month for ownership compared to leasing at 12,000 miles per year.

Negotiating on these typically means starting at MSRP and trying to eliminate as many unnecessary fees as possible, like the $600 dealer fee. I can’t see how you would get a substantial discount like you seem to expect.

Thanks for letting me know. As long as I’m not paying over MSRP, I’ll be glad to
