50k for a new 2025...is it worth it?

Looks like the dream of a ‘cheap’ Maverick is over! :joy: I was hoping for the 2025 XLT Hybrid with AWD, the Luxury Package, 4k tow, and 360 for around 47k CAD, but after taxes, it’s hitting nearly 50k. It’s a great truck, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price, especially when you consider a few compromises.

I wanted the AWD, hybrid, and 4k tow package, but with that price, I think I’ll stick to finding a 2022 or 2023 Ecoboost with similar packages. The fuel savings just don’t add up for me.

Anyway, rant over. I’ll keep watching from the sidelines until I finally decide to pull the trigger.

@Ty
I totally agree. For under $40k, I could justify the purchase, but $50k with tax? That’s too much. Another option for me is just getting a CUV/SUV. I’d be more comfortable knowing that my stuff would be safe from thieves, even if it’s just in the back of a truck with a cover.

People buying the AWD/hybrid should really do the math because the gas savings don’t add up when you factor in the higher purchase price.

Agreed. The hybrid over the Ecoboost is around $500 CAD extra, which is fine if you’re mainly looking for fuel savings. But when you compare the new vs. used options, it doesn’t make sense to spend the extra 20k. Plus, if you want the 4k tow, you have to get the 360 Co-Pilot, which adds another 2k.

What does the Luxury package actually add?

For the 2024 XLT, the Luxury package includes: 8-way power driver seat, 400W inverter with USB, full-size spare, heated mirrors, heated seats, heated steering wheel, LED box lighting, remote start, trailer hitch, and a modular bedliner. For the 2025 XLT, it removes the trailer hitch and drop-in bedliner but still offers the other features like heated seats and remote start.

I’m in Canada too. My dealer keeps asking me to trade in my Maverick after just over a year. I’ve got the 2023 Hybrid XLT with the Luxury Package in Cyber Orange. I paid $38k for it, but I’m not sure a 2025 model with AWD and a bigger screen is worth the upgrade. Plus, I’d miss my Cyber Orange.

@Drew
It sounds like you’ve got the truck I’m looking for! I gave up on finding a hybrid. I actually ran into someone yesterday who had the 2023 Cyber Orange with the 4k and Luxury package. He said he wouldn’t trade it for anything, and I get why!

Is there anything better on the market for the same price or less?

I’m sure there are other options, like CUV/SUVs. But I really want the Maverick! I don’t need it, I just like it. A hybrid SUV would meet all my needs, but the Maverick just feels right.

That’s fair. For truck lovers, though, I’m not sure what else compares.

If you need a truck, you’re probably better off getting a Ranger or an F150. They’re easier to justify at these prices, especially with their higher tow capacity.

Exactly! If I really needed a truck, I’d probably go with something like a Ridgeline or Santa Cruz. But for now, I’m considering just getting an older Ranger to keep around as a secondary truck, alongside my GTI.

The Ridgeline or Santa Cruz are the only other unibody trucks out there.

At that price, you might as well go for a real truck and get something mid-sized.

There are plenty of trucks for $50k. I got a fully-loaded Ranger Raptor for $54k. My XLT Maverick was one of my favorite small trucks, but I paid $21k for it. These trucks shouldn’t be more than $30k, but with greedy dealers and impatient buyers, Ford realized they could charge a lot more.

@Tyler
Are you in Canada?

@Tyler
Oh, I missed that part! Still, the prices in the US are high too. Higher trims are pushing into the $40k range. Good luck to the Canadians, though, I don’t know how anyone can afford vehicles there.

I work at a dealership, and they’ve been asking about my trade-in since I hit 10k km. I might consider a Lobo once they release it.

That sounds awesome! I really love the Maverick too, but the new prices just don’t make sense to me. If you’re in the Toronto area, hit me up and we can chat more about it!
