What was your payment before, and did the gas savings offset your new monthly payment?
The new truck added about $60 to the payment, but I rolled some negative equity into the loan. I’m banking on the gas savings making up the difference.
I’m struggling to even hit 42 mpg driving like a grandma. How are you guys getting 45? Are you going 35 mph all the time?
Lots of traffic helps!
This might be a dumb question, but do the hybrids have an eco mode?
How different is it from normal mode? In the gas models, it just makes the throttle response slower and holds the gears longer. Eco mode actually kills my fuel efficiency above 60 mph in my EB.
It’s pretty much the same—slower acceleration, and the cruise control responds slower too. It might use a bit more engine braking as well.
In the hybrid, though, it does help a little with the mileage. I don’t use it much though.
I once hit 138 mpg, but my average on long trips is around 67 mpg.
I’ve got a 2022 XLT EcoBoost. Should I trade it in for a hybrid?
Depends on what you need it for. If fuel efficiency is a big deal for you, then go hybrid. But if you need the towing capacity, stick with the EcoBoost.
That’s exactly how I felt when I traded my old truck for a Lightning. I thought 23 mpg was decent until I made the switch.
